Away from direct contact with the subject, I work in a different way to when painting en plein air. Taking inspiration normally from photographic reference, a starting point may then be a particular aspect of handling the medium that I’m currently enjoying. It could be a basis for experimentation – essential to continuing development – and where studio practice can come into its own.
These pieces may require re-working more than once before I arrive at a watercolour that hopefully works on its own terms.
Paintings are for sale unless otherwise stated, and I add more to the gallery regularly. All are on half-imperial size paper, being approx 12.5 x 19.5” image size (31 x 51cm). Price and other purchase information is given on the Shop page, but please contact me if you have any enquiry.
