A view I'd seen on previous visits, this is in a very quiet hamlet in the Limousin region, France. So quiet that I was able to plonk my easel in the middle of the lane to paint, as only a few local homes might use it, and I could always move pretty quickly if I heard a car. It was very hot, so I needed to find a spot in the shade. I'd previously noted when that would be, so I arrived quite early in the morning when the shadows would leave those gaps of light across the lane. For me this composition had an appealing arrangement of subjects and shapes, as well as the light and shade.
