Lacock is a very old, very wonky place. I always like to slightly enhance any such character in buildings, and this is good example of that. But the thing I like best about the painting is that it did I think capture the crisp spring morning light. This was rush hour in Lacock! Most of the cars I saw were parked ones. I left Bristol ridiculously early to get here for about 8 am (It can take ages just to get out of Bristol through the traffic, even very early in the morning...) It was well worth the early start, though, and I got the morning sun I'd hoped for. Lucky on this occasion.
