On a stunning, hot July afternoon I went to paint Carew Castle, but instead kept walking past the castle, to eventually find this scene in a neighbouring field on a footpath, which I found to be more inspiring. A tricky one to make work, being entirely 'natural landscape' and without any particular focal point. It's one of those that can work - to me, because I just love being in such places - so long as enough atmosphere is captured.
