A location near a big wier on the river Avon, quite near Bath in early spring. I'd visited the scene the previous summer to check out the weir, which is behind me as we look at this scene. I realised then that this view would be worth seeing in winter or spring, when the tree's lack of foliage would allow a view towards the pumping station in the background. I thought I was going to get rained on, and get wet (as there was nowhere close I could shelter) but despite heavy looking clouds the whole time, I got away with it until just after finishing the painting. Then I did get wet.
