A simple farmland scene, based on photos of a particular tree, taken in quite a different weather situation and light - i.e. rain and dullness! Mostly this was inspired by the tree shape itself; an ivy-covered early spring tree in Wales, near LLandeilo. I felt it was successful in terms of capturing the hazy, bright light effect. The painting owes inspiration also to one of my painting influences, Edward Wesson. But I always felt an affinity with his choice of subject from the time I first laid eyes on his work.
