A village sometimes seen in TV period dramas. Castle Coombe is very unspoiled. I think TV ariels on rooftops are banned here. It was a fairly cloudy day, with the odd burst of sun coming through. I invented a bit of light shadow under the eves and that area where the road goes under the building, but otherwise the painting needed to rely on an interesting arrangement of shapes, so that's what I was looking for when searching for a composition.
