A coastal path backpacker pauses to take in the stunning view at Booby's Bay, Trevose Head, Cornwall. I've painted at this location a few times, always trying to time it right for close to high tide, so as to get a good bit of splashing surf on the rocks. That's Booby's Bay at its best, in my view. This was a studio one, but I was definitely inspired by the memory, painted shortly after a visit to the scene. I'll be back again to paint there plein air, whenever I can. There are no end of places to set up the easel with an inspiring composition of jutting rocks and headland at various distances. Just wish they hadn't closed the public toilets about 20 years ago!
