I'd seen this tree many times before I managed to get there to paint it. It was visible from the top of this bridleway, for a split second while passing by on a busy main road in traffic. I was not disappointed when I eventually walked to this spot and set up my easel. I am sure I will be back again in different seasons to do another portrait of this beautiful and magnificent old oak tree. The track nowadays is actually a dead end, which might be why I didn't see even a single person. And there were birds nesting and singing from the hedges, making it a rather idyllic setting, very relaxing and enjoyable to paint from.
