Pine Tree at Cadbury Hill Fort, North Somerset

Size: 31 x 51 cm
Status: For Sale
Price: £130

This was a rvery tricky, really windy day, up on top of Cadbury Hill Fort. One where you have to grasp everything tightly, so the tree trunk in particular was difficult. I had to go down the handle and take it slowly. The first time I've visited here, and it had some really nice trees for the taking. On this occasion, I came upon this view, with the distant landscape towards the Mendip hills visible through a gap in the trees. I applied the principle I tend to advise in my teaching, of 'stop looking for a subject as soon as you see one you like'. It's so easy to keep looking, thinking there might be something even better. Well, maybe there is, but that can be for another day. I had a group of mini cows come up for a meeting around the easel at the beginning. A bit like dwarf English Longhorn cattle, very beautiful and employed here to keep the grass down for a period of the year to allow for wild flower regeneration.
