It's only rare that I paint birds, but in fact it's one of my biggest pleasures in life just to listen to them and watch them. Of course it's not that easy to get good enough reference photos of them to work from either. We have a wildlife video camera that we sometimes set up in our garden, from which stills can be taken on a computer. That's how I got the sunlit shots that I worked from here.
