35 minute demo, and painting in The Wye Valley
Patchings demo – a lane in early Spring.
Here is my quick demo from Patchings Art Festival at the weekend, where I was demonstrating at the stand of Alpha Painting Holidays.
It was a great experience, although I had to follow a brilliant demonstration by Steve Hall, which was a bit daunting.
This was the first time I’d visited Patchings and it was great to get a look around and meet lots of friendly people. With tempting goods everywhere I also managed not to buy anything, except for a cheese and onion sandwich. I’m also lucky because not only did I have a painting accepted in the Patchings Exhibition, but it won The Artist Exhibition Award, which means I’ll be a part of a group show back at Patchings Art Centre next year along with several excellent painters.
I’m now hoping I can tempt some people to join me for a lovely summer plein air painting experience in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a 5 day holiday on 10th – 14th July 2017. Alpha Painting Holidays are now taking bookings.

By the way, I have put up a new demo video on youtube, of me painting an alternative version of the above painting in preparation for my demo at Patchings (and a local art group). It has a cloudier sky which I didn’t go for in the end. I’ll probably take down the video soon, as my presentation is very rough. I have one question about your demos here on the website. I have tried to watch them but the do not work exept one – The tall tree. Is that correct or is it something wrong with my computer.

The tall tree video is now the only one I have left available to watch. The others were not up to standard. In fact the tall tree one is not especially either. I have plans to make a DVD, though it will still be some time before it is actually done yet.
