Sunshine, showers, and more
Here is this Thursday’s plein air painting, from beautiful Lacock, where many period dramas (and Harry Potter) are/were filmed. Loads of timber framed buildings everywhere. Did this in the morning, half-way through which the sun came out.
I had a similar issue with the light as in my visit to Bideford a fortnight ago; ie. it was cloudy to begin with, with little in the way of light at all. This time though, I kept the main building as untouched white paper in the hope that the sun would come out, and it eventually did. I then just added shadows to the other buildings – which I’d already painted – too.
Then, as the showers arrived in the afternoon we took shelter in the pub and watched the England match. A great day with friends, and the football team just about redeemed themselves too.
